Indoor Spring Planting and Transplant Schedule: When to Plant

By JULIE - 8:34:00 PM

Soon it's time to start cold season crops indoors. I use to start plants from seed indoors using seed cells with a plastic dome cover on a TV tray by a window.  Good luck with a cat....  So I've been trying to think of a way to grow a lot of plants indoors without my cat getting to them. AKA how to grow plants indoors when you have a frisky cat.  I saw a 4 shelf greenhouse kit on sale at Menard's for $20 and I think this might work in our basement with some flourescent lights underneath, as long as I have the shelves full I think Mr Cat will leave the plants alone.  Has anyone tried any thing like this?  Forums I read said it worked well indoors.

In Minneapolis (Zone 4) our average last known frost according to the Farmers Almanac is April 30 and our last Known Frost Date is May 25.  Our local weather guy Paul Douglas posted about a frost on May 15 2009.  It's good to have a reminder that frost can happen in MN as late as the end of May. The following planting schedule uses the latest known frost date May 25, since we have had such an unusually late and cold spring.  Find out yours and use this Indoor Spring Planting  and Transplant Schedule so you know when to start planting indoors :
