Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate Recipe

By JULIE - 8:43:00 AM

Why didn't I think of this before?  My husband is obsessed with chocolate and peanut butter, (of course he loves Reese's peanut butter cups).  So of course, I had to make peanut butter hot chocolate this winter.  Perfect for cuddling up with on a cold winter day.  My favorite is to have hot chocolate while wearing my comfy clothes watching the snow falling down.

This would be great to do in a crockpot for holiday parties.  I'm sure everyone would love this twist on a classic.  You could also have a hot chocolate bar and offer fun topping options like caramel or chocolate syrup, marshmallows, whipped cream, etc

 Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
(yields 3 8oz servings, or 2 12 oz servings)

Ingredients
3 cups of  milk
2 tablespoons of organic 1/2 and half
1/4 cup of cocoa
1/4 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of mini bittersweet chocolate chips
3-4 tablespoons of organic creamy peanut butter (depending on how peanut buttery you want it)

Directions
  1. In a medium saucepan, heat milk and half and half to 165°F, or until you see bubbles begin to form around the edges. Do not bring it to a full boil.
  2. Pour in chocolate chips and stir until all of the chocolate is melted.
  3. Add peanut butter and sugar, again stirring until completely melted and combined.
  4. If your cocoa is not smooth or has chunks of peanut butter floating around that will not melt, run the cocoa through the blender and reheat again before serving.

  2. Wait till you try my Hot White Chocolate Coconut Recipe I came up with....I plan on posting it tomorrow.

I'm trying to enjoy winter a little more before spring comes. You have to think positive when you get over a foot of snow after having 50 degree temps the week before!
